Here’s How to Get Rid of Your Bad Habits Today
Everyone can get rid of his or her bad habits; it is just a matter of will and good organization and voila — those bad habits are gone forever! We have talked with people who managed to get rid of their bad habits even after more than 10-20 years of ignoring and accepting them as something unchangeable. These are their thoughts.
Bad Habit No. 1 – Being a TV addict
The first thing you have to do is reduce your TV time to no more than 2 hours a day. Then follow this habit for a month. While doing this, you should stop channel surfing but turn your TV on only when you have something specific to watch. Use that free time to see your friends, get some things done around the house, experiment with cooking, etc. By the end of your first month, you will be amazed by the fact that your life has changed for the better and that you are much happier now.
Bad Habit No. 2 – Skipping breakfast
This habit can have serious consequences on your weight, energy levels, and even your blood sugar. Taking at least a toast in the morning means much to your metabolism, telling it that it’s time to start your day full of energy. Avoiding this fuel intake keeps your metabolism running low, which normally leads to weight gain. Most breakfast-skippers tend to overeat later in the day because avoiding breakfast creates a starve-now-indulge-later eating pattern. The moment you start your breakfast-eating routine, you will get stable blood sugar, which means fewer food cravings and hunger pangs later in the day, so do not overeat, please.
Bad Habit No. 3 – Non-Stop snacks
The most common cause of gaining weight is losing touch with your body’s natural hunger and not being able to recognize the real signs of hunger. Since those snacks are of low quality but full of calories, you will always be hungry but still gaining weight. You will even be on the verge of becoming ill with diabetes, heart disease, and other serious conditions.
To get rid of this habit, the first thing you have to do is to reacquaint yourself with hunger. Don’t eat every time you feel hungry but wait to eat until your body is physically craving food. You should also stop eating before you’re stuffed and choose only healthy ingredient-rich food. So, no fast food and other salty or sweet snacks, please! Also, no eating on the go. Sit down at the table to enjoy your meal fully, place a glass of water by your side and make every meal a special occasion.
Bad Habit No. 4 – Getting frequent sunburns
This habit contributes to the aging of your skin by destroying the elastic fibers that keep skin looking firm and smooth, and thus leading to earlier wrinkles, blotches, freckles, and discolorations. More dangerously, sunburns contribute to cancers of the skin. It does not help to go to the tanning salon since tanning also raises your risk for skin cancer and wrinkles.
What you should also know is that sun exposure, especially if your quest for the perfect tan has left you sunburned, damages skin, even if it doesn’t look so, in ways that can never be repaired or reversed.
The first thing you should do here is schedule an annual skin check with a dermatologist for possible changes. In the summer, don’t go anywhere without a sunscreen. When the temperatures are high, stick to the shade, wear a hat, sunglasses, and even long sleeves and pants.
Bad Habit No. 5 – Overspending
Even though you are not thinking about it while spending more than you have, money worries can have serious consequences on your health.
These days, everyone should know basics about money management. You can even learn it online! Search the net for all the relevant information about the methods of personal finance— credit cards, mortgages, budgeting, and investing. You should also get rid of your credit card, i.e. stop using it.
People who create a budget for monthly spending rarely get in debt. Therefore, you should do the same. You should note how much money is coming in each month, how much you spend on essentials, and how much for additional/unexpected needs. You should pay at least the monthly minimum on all your bills to avoid their accumulation.
